What happens if the payee hasn’t finished setup?

If a payee (recipient) hasn’t completed their Bitwage setup, they can’t be added to a payroll until they finish onboarding. This helps prevent failed or misrouted payments.

How to know a payee isn’t ready

Go to Recipients and check the Status column. If the recipient is not fully onboarded, you may see a status such as:

  • Incomplete

  • Expired (invite needs to be re-sent)

A recipient must complete setup before they can be included in payroll.

What you can do (send a reminder)

You can prompt the payee to finish setup directly from the Recipients page:

  1. Go to Recipients

  2. Find the payee in the list

  3. Click the ⋯ (three dots) on the right side of their row

  4. Select Send reminder

This sends an email reminder so the payee can complete their account setup.

Best practices to avoid delays

  • Invite recipients as soon as your company is approved

  • Ask recipients to have these ready before they start:

    • Bank account details (for local currency), and/or

    • Crypto wallet address + correct network (for crypto), and/or

    • Their preferred allocation split (if they want a mix)

  • Before creating payroll, confirm all payees show Complete status
