Enabling Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator uses a secret code to generate one-time passwords every 30 seconds, and is much more secure than sms. we recommend all users disable sms and use google authenticator.

If you do not already have Google Authenticator you can install through apple, android, chrome, and most browsers.

To set up Google Authenticator:

1. Download the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device.

2. Log in to your Bitwage account using the codes sent via SMS. If you are not receiving SMS codes, we can assist you by sending access codes. Please reach out to our support team at support@bitwage.com for help.

3. Click on "Settings," which is represented by the gear icon located in the upper right corner of the screen. Next, navigate to "Security and Privacy," and then select "Two-Factor Authentication." Here, you will find the option to enable Google Authenticator.

4. Enable Google Authenticator (you will be prompted to enter a two-factor code again).

5. You will now see a QR code that you should scan with your mobile device's camera, along with a secret code. We recommend storing this information in a secure location for future reference.

6. Great! Now that Google Authenticator is enabled, you have a secure method to generate one-time passwords. You can safely disable SMS for two-factor authentication.
